Jujube, Chinese Plum
Jujube has been on my to-do list for some time now. I thoroughly enjoy growing fruit trees - or rather, I enjoy the fruit of my labor from growing fruit trees. With the prices of fruit and questionable quality from your common grocer, including fruits that are more often than not grown out-of-country where regulations are much more lax if any, growing your own is quickly becoming the only way to truly enjoy fruit. Jujube is no exception - tho I’ve yet to see any at a grocer.
However, an online friend who happens to live 30 miles from me happened across a jujube tree in a city park near where he lives. Just to be sure of the identification, and to get some seeds, I asked him to send me a twig and a baggy of well-ripened fruit.
I'm a horticultural enthusiast. My life is deeply shaped by my plant passion. I am decidedly tropical, influenced by having lived on Guam, by life on Hawaii as a child, and a deep infatuation for fruit common in the tropics..
